I ,have recently bought a cheap leather handbag which has a very strong nasty smell, not the nice leather smell. I have hung it out in the garden, sprayed with Febreze but it still stinks and anything I put inside also stinks. Has anyone got any suggestions? Someone said to freeze it, b ut cannot risk ruining all our food.
I bought one and did exactly the same as you did, it stunk of mothballs or something similar. I kept it open, sprayed it and hung it outside then inside for ages. I never used it, the smell did eventually get better but I'd gone off it and In the end I 'donated' it to the Charity bag.
put a whole tub of bicarbonate of soda inside it, leave for a couple of days, the smell should now have been absorbed, then empty and wipe out with a damp cloth!....should work, if not, repeat the process again!..............
