Decided to get one, just had a test drive, wonderful. Does not have an alarm, although does have an immobiliser. Is it worth getting the alarm on it, do the insurance companies charge you more. Also, no fog lamps, anyone got one without, is it worth getting them.

Thanks

In my experience, front fog lamps are a waste of money. They don't do anything helpful.
Front fog lamps only make you more visible to on coming traffic so as Hopkirk says, "They don't do anything helpful"
Front fog lights are very rarely used as we don't get fog very often now, there only used in clear weather by the idiots who think the are a fashion accessory!

On the very rare occasion there is real fog they are very helpful though, as they have a low flat beam that does not glare back at you like dipped headlights would.
When I had some on a previous car, I found that they illuminated the area just in front of the car very well.

I kept finding my attention drifting cloer to the car as a result, while I needed to concentrate as far ahead as possible.
Even in thick fog, I didn't feel they actually helped at all.
seriously i wouldn't worry about the fog lights - on a smart car they are about the size of a 10 p piece anyway. If you are keeping it in the garage, i wouldn't worry about an alarm either.
i had a smart car for six years and loved it. My last one was a cabrio like crafts and in the summer it was great (and in fact in the spring/autumn too - just put the roof down and put the heating on!)
Just use the immoblilizer.
(You can't get anything big enough to be worth nicking in a Smart)
