Hiya everyone.... I was thinking of cooking Coq au vin, when some friends come to dinner, has anyone ever done this in a slow cooker, what was it like if you have..or do you think its best to cook it in the traditional way? Thanks everso..Hope you all have a great weekend!

I`d probably do it the traditional way. I find the slow cooker is better for tougher meat such as red meat. I`ve only used my slow cooker for chicken once and I found it a bit dry.

Thanks 237SJ...I hadn't thought of that!... If I over cook it in the slow cooker.. it may turn out like Coq Au Vin soup!! lol yuk! x
I cook whole chickens in the slow cooker.....moist,moist, moist every time. And that is with a minimal amount of liquid.
You could start off conventionally-colour the chicken,soften the veg....then leave it to cook on low for 8 hours.
