I am going to with a group of friends tomorrow (all in our 20s and 30s) and wondered if anyone had any tips for the best things to do and see so that we can get the most out of the day.
Have always wanted to go there and really looking forward to it, just hope the weather behaves for us :)

Started with a rather foggy M62 and was a bit dull when we got there but cleared up :) We had a wander up the pier and braved the ladder down to the lower bit to watch some pretty impressive waves then headed onto the beach - Mrs O - if you saw a random "We woz ere" and the date written on the beach, that was me!
Then headed to the Magpie and queue wasn't really that long at all and so worth it! Defeated me though and couldn't finish it. We then headed up through the town (gorgeous shops!) and up the steps to the Abbey (stunning!) and had a wander round up there before heading back down to the kipper shop and back to the car park.
Headed down to Robin Hoods Bay and had a wander down to the rockpools and back up (literally) to the car park before heading home as the sun was setting (lovely!) and via what looked like a valley with all this mist sitting within it down from us - quite amazing to see - on the road back down towards York. Had such a good day!
Have taken a ridiculous amount of photos which are being uploaded to Facebook as I type but can't publish them on here without identifying myself and publishing my ugly mug haha!
Thank you all for the great advice!

Funnily enough, just came on here to see how you got on. So glad you enjoyed yourself (and of course that the queues were not too bad at the Magpie) You should see them in the summer!!
I can't do the Robin Hood's Bay steps any more!! They kill me!!
Nice that you had a dry day!! No rain that is - I don't know about the alchohol. Did you meet Dracula? ;o)

I don't think we waited much more than 10 minutes at the Magpie, my friend had a little longer as she had phoned ahead to book in a special gluten free one - she was made up! Not had proper fish and chips in ages :)
I was quite proud of myself managing the steps up to the Abbey and a really steep hill back up from the bay, am definitely feeling it today but it was worth it!
No Dracula haha! We walked past the museum but went for the more scenic sights, will try and do a tour when I go back.
No alcohol whatsoever :) A cheeky Starbucks on the way up and lots of water for us all, was just a lovely chilled day. We were just stood watching the sea for ages, quite transfixing! I lived by the sea for 5 years and do miss it.
Will definitely be heading back.
