I have a hannes mccaw as you see it pic and recently she has started to pluck her chest feathers out. She has toys she is out of her cage long spells she is not left alone and is very tame. Any ideas why she is doing this would be appreciated. Have looked on line and some say it is boredom but it is certainly not that as I am at home all day and she gets loads of attention. Thanks for any replies.

Maybe not boredom but could be stress. Have you placed anything different in the cage? Any change in routine?
Failing that, a trip to the vet to rule out any form of mite infestation may be worth it.

Thanks for replies. No new toys lately Icemaiden and cage always in same place and near where she can see out. Thanks merciasound very interesting reading. I have found an article and it might be something she is lacking in her food but she gets fresh fruit as well but will try a few extra things.

Few reasons given here, other than boredom.
