Do I need some sort of underlay between floorboards and vinyl tiles in bathroom?

Thanks Chris. Will check that site out.
I'd always strongly advise against sticking vinyl tiles to wooden flooring without first laying down hardboard, (preferably oil-tempered - if you can get hold of it). Otherwise, if and when you ever want to replace the tiles, you'll find it almost impossible to remove the adhesive. With tiles stuck to hardboard, you can just lift the lot, leaving the wooden floor in its original condition.
You will be sorry if you do not use an underlayment. The vinyl tiles will show the floor joints below if you don't. We call that telegraphing.
