When I'v done that it don't actualy remove your songs folder on your computer. It will be fine. It just removes the actual program but keeps the music on your computer. when you have re done itunes you may need to set up the old music files folder to work with it again. It will do a scan and find them if you allow it to search for music on your computer. But it don't wipe your music.
Surely even if it did remove your music you could just restore all your tunes from your last backup anyhow.

what's that I hear? you don't have a backup?
rofl chuck...I think the whole world should go Mac and get a Time Machine.....

re snags :
the reason i was thinking about uninstalling & re-installing itunes is because when i plug in my ipod shufle itunes doesnt seem to recognise it. I am given an on-screen prompt saying " an ipod has been detected but it could not be identified properly . Please disconnect & reconnect the ipod & try again. If the problem persists uninstall itunes then install itunes again ". Is it worth doing this ? Trying scan and fix gives me an error message saying "the disk check couldnt be perfomed because windows cannot access the disk." & pressing the restore button only seems to freeze itunes

p.s. re ChuckFickens pardon my ignorance but how would i do a backup ?
