What Japanese arcade game is based on a combination of Pinball and (some card game - missed the name). Did anyone see it and can help?

It was pinball and bagatelle and the answer was pachinko

Yes I'll confirm Prudie. I WAS watching and it WAS Pachinko (I'm a real saddo. I eat my dinner when Eggheads is on and turn the answer machine on)

Bibblebub yes they are repeating some of the originals. They seem to switch back and forth whenever the Eggheads lose for some reason

You may be right about repeating old shows. The single challenger left was told that he would have been the first solo player to defeat the Eggheads and it has happened several times recently.

You can always tell they are old ones when the opening is "Theses 5 people" as aginst "These people"
