If 'gays only' hotels are successfully charged with discriminating against straight people, will Christians finally realised that they're not being 'persecuted'?

We so often hear from the right wing media that Christians and the so-called 'silent majority' (an oxymoron if ever there was one) are being unfairly treated by the new Equality Bill.

However, if 'gays only' hotels are to be charged under the same act, could thus finally put an end to the claims of unfairness?

Couple of points that need to be clarified here - there have been two cases where Christian B&B owners have refused to let a double room to a gay couple, not just the recent one involving Mr & Mrs Bull.

The Muslim who had his application to Cathay Pacific DID have exactly the same application accepted when he used a perceived 'White' name (CP aren't denying this - but claim it was down to an administrative error).

Now - getting back to the question in hand - if any 'gay only' establishment is found guilty of discrimination - doesn't that prove that the Equality Bill is just and fair?

Just realised something - perhaps the reason why no straight person has ever been turned away from a gay hotel/B&B is because only a tiny percentage if straight couples would feel comfortable in that environment, and therefore wouldn't book in the first place?

The thing is SP, in the last B&B farce, the gay couple booked not knowing that they would be turned away. It was only when they arrived and Mr & Mrs Bull took issue, were they turned away.

In the instance of the gay hotel, since it is advertising itself as a gay hotel, hetrosexual couples would not be booking in (in the same way that I would book myself on an 18-30s holiday).

The trouble is, if they make gay hotels illegal, then you would also have to make 18-30 holidays illegal, SAGA holidays illegal etc etc.

I understand your point - however (and I'm happy to be put right on this) - I don't think that you actually HAVE to be between 18 and 30 to go on a Club 18-30 holiday.

Actually, I'm not even sure the company still exists!

So that makes a difference does it? Just two out of thousands of B&Bs throughout the country.

Nothing unlawful has yet been proven.

Since in the past the Equality Bill has on numerous occasions been seen to favour the minorities more, It will take more than just one case to prove that the Equality Bill is now just and fair.

Perhaps discrimination is perpetrated more frequently against gays, Muslims women, the disabled and blacks than it is against whites, straight able-bodied men?

Just a theory mind - based on the number of successful discrimination cases we've seen over the past few years.

Or it could be (and I'm only guessing) that the "majorities" metioned simply don't go on about any discrimination they might suffer. They might stay away from places where they are not welcome (as any sensible person would) instead of going there and taking legal action over their treatment, they might not moan when they know they would be castigated if they set up a "White Police Officers' Association" or celebrated "Music of a White Origin".

Just thinking out load !!!.

Oh, and you know the Music Of White Origin thing? Well, word of advice, when you have artists such as Plan B, The Streets, Amy Winehouse and Eminem all being nominated and winning awards over the past few years (to name but a few), you realise that the MOBOs aren't exactly exclusively for black artists.

All of the above are White performers by the way.

I would stay away from mention of the MOBOs when trying to make that point - it really, really, really is a terrible example for you to use, because it's so very multicultural.

Bad move - yet understandable if you're not really into dance music or know what the MOBOs are all about.
