Daily Mail 23 across. (10 letters) I have s-n-t-r-s-
The clue is "Over here odd gunshots go off, aimed at this ?"

you're right, mxyzptlk (do you disappear now I said your name?), and the R comes from the word 'here' too - it's both the odd letters HeRe

This one took me a time to solve. If you Google Songthrush every hit you get is "Song Thrush". It would have been a lot quicker if the clue had correctly said (4,6).
