Can someones please firstly confirm that it is a St George Cross on the Barcelona FC badge and if it is why?

I'm having a bit of todo with my Dad about it and the only thing I have found to confirm it is a St George Cross is from Wikipedia, but he believes everything on Wiki is crap and made up so still won't believe me.

It is a bowl-shaped design, in which the two upper quarters maintain the St George Cross and the red and yellow bars of the original, which are the most representative symbols of Barcelona and Catalonia. The club initials FCB appear on a strip across the centre, and below are the Barça colours and a ball. So, what we have is a crest that honours the sporting dimension of the club as well as its connection to its city and country. From the Barcelona FC website :)
St Jordi (St George) is the patron saint of Catalunya and forms part of the crest of the City of Barcelona.

Yes!! Thank you both for your brilliant answers! That's kept him quiet. :o)
what he didn't belive it's the George Cross? Well it's easy enough to check that Catalonia is just one of several countries that have St George as the patron saint, what did he think it was?
