exe files/software wont open or run...??

over the last day or so i dont seem to be able to open or run a lot of my software...i have noticed that a lot seem to have the exe file extensions...even when running my pctools it would not let me run any sort of cleanup or scans....

have i inadvertantly disabled something? ( i recently disabled some processes, using an inline guide to free up some resources etc)
i did this once before but it worked fine...

if so which one would be it be and how do i turn it back?

error message says "the application was unable to start correctly
(0xc0000017) please click ok to close"

That's referring to a memory address which means it can not 'run' the program.

Have you restarted your PC (and not closed the processes)?

Try re-starting the PC in Safe Mode. If it works OK here, then another program is causing the problem.

Try those first and let us know how you get on.

hi johne1892, thanks, ive tried that, but sometimes the programs work and other times they dont...i am wondering if perhaps i need to install more ram?
wou;d that solve it?
