My mum did ask why is was so bright....does it have head lights....lol.
But why is it so bright?

Because it's shiny ... it's just reflected sunight, same as you'd see from the Moon.
One of my facebook 'friends' drove to the east coast to see the shuttle launch. She says the traffic was horrendous, took them six hours to do a three hour journey but the atmosphere was fantastic, like one big party. The emotion when it took off could be felt by everyone, a combination of awe and hope that things went ok. Wish I could have been there.

lankeela, we went to kennedy back in 1991, it was amazing I find it very intresting, I also like animals and as it is a nature reserve also, the bald eagles nest were amazing, I would love to have seen it, A friend of mine who was on holiday in orlando saw a take off years ago and said it was one of thebest things even now that she has seen.
