British Portrait Painter

Male, still working but probably about 70+ years old. Classically trained, he works in oils, and has quite an angular style. He has a technical style and his portraits seem angular at times. Normally his compositions are quite light and pastelly. What is his name?

sg      It maybe  DAVID HOCKNEY   you could search that out his age group is 70ish he was the man at Labour conference and having a smoke  last week his art is light and pale colours  anyway worth looking him up and may be what your looking for  good luck.

Thanks, both good answers but it's neither. This painter is less well known. He has a reputation for avoiding publicity and being very strict with his models. I used to have a postcard of a painting he did of an apple, it was constructed in shapes of colour I seem to remember.
