Who saw the elbow yesterday?
Can it be defended, the Man Utd Assistant Manager tried to on MOTD by saying "we have to respect the referee's decision". But he clearly elbowed the guy on purpose off the ball just gain a bit of ground on him.
He is still a little thug underneath, however they try and defend him
It does make one wonder just how thick some players are if think they can get away with things like that without being picked up by any of the myriad of cameras at a Premier League game.
It was nasty from Wazza, but being such a high profile footballer is why it was shown and highlighted. How many other off the ball incidents go unnoticed.
The vindictive two footed jump into the achilles of the Crawley player last week was just as bad but the ref just gave a free kick. Basically football reporting is disingenuous as it is populated by "pundits" who are ex-footballers who need to justify what they themselves did in their career so they are part of the problem. As for Rooney he has peaked and is on the way down as he does not have the intelligence to build on his experience a la Cantona for example. When you look back on his career in three years time remember where you heard it first.
er, some of us were very outspoken about Rooneytunes before the world cup Kalahari.
you are not telling me anything new.
it is possible he will prove us wrong, but i hope someone emerges to oust Rooney from the England team. On merit he still should not get in the England team.
i'm talking from a footballing perspective jd. Everyone was salivating about his goal a few weeks ago, was it really worth the millions he has been paid in the last 18 months?
because that is about all he has done in that time.
A lot of the time, he's rubbish ... eg, the whole of the last 12 months ??
He scores one lucky goal from a dangerous overhead kick (if there had been anyone behind him, he'd have been sent off for dangerous play), and the media think he's a genius.
Guess who the referee was ? Mark Clattenburg gave a free kick for the incident but just saw it as a coming together !
Rooney and Clattenburg should have 3 match bans
he should have been sent off and i hope the f.a come down hard on him for it as it was intentional rather than a coming together.
maybe ref decided not to punish it after giving the foul as it was man utd against wigan after all and we all know united get more refs decision than any other team
OK agreed Rooney deseves a punishment of somekind 'a three match ban' maybe... but as for this 'we all know united get more refs decision than any other team' stop talking from your Sphincter!
arksided, as martinez said "if it was the other way round it would have been a different outcome" all the top clubs get the decision over the small clubs!!
should neville had been shown a red against stoke earlier in the season??? yes and why wasn't he for his lunge on etherington?
