Not sure if this has been posted before, but I would like you all to sign a petition to stop unfair duty on fuel. It is listed below, and they can not get enough signatures, so if you could all sign this that would be a help, and also if you tell all your friends to do this then that would also be appreciated.

I walk to and from work and Mrs Flop walks our school-age daughter to school. We have one car which last year covered just 2000 miles. I have three bikes, which is a bit self-indulgent but they are fairly old, and last year covered less than 2000 miles in total.
So fuel rises don't particularly bother me - in fact, get the public transport infrastructure right and then charge a fiver a litre. Could force more people on to public transport!
So I won't be signing the petition - Plus as squarebear says, even if millions signed it, absolutely nothing would happen.

Your post beggars belief Flip Flop do you not think we pay enough tax in this country? the majority of the British public work hard for the money in fact longer working hours than they do in Europe, Yes I agree that hauliers should have a reduction in fuel duties, regards Public Transport " That's a joke" with today's congestion, I note you have not commented on Foreign Transport that come into this country paying sod all towards our roads, the government can reduce the Tax by doing the above. do you think the French would except this?
I agree Xylene didn't think it through but neither did the Conservative government that asked Beeching to dismantle the railway branch network. Just think how easy it would be to deliver goods with all those branch lines even apart from the benefit to tourism.
But that's wishful thinking, the facts are the great British public chose road transport and now we are paying the price for it. Unless we choose to abandon the comfort, convenience and prestige of personal transport (fat chance) we will continue to pay. As a consequence our selfishness will result in gridlock, pollution and increasing fatalities. Mind you that has little to do with our governments continuing to milk the cash cow of motoring taxation.

Take a look at what cheap fuel causes by looking at the united states, if you think cheap fuel will cost you less in the long run think again. Sitting in Grid locked traffic for hours on end going nowhere and burning fuel, SMOG accumulating over all our cities just like the states.
Investment in alternative fuels is the only real way forward due to the finite resources of fossil fuels anyway.
