Should we get involved?

Here we go again, we can't wait to get in there and have a go.
Why us? our politicians should be totally ashamed of themselves, they are making the biggest cuts in expenditure that this country has ever seen, yet they can still throw away millions on a no-win situation such as this.
If the situation in Libya escalates so much that we do indeed send these troops in, how long will we have these forces tied up?
I recently speculated on a Civil National Service, but if our deleted number of forces, (due to cut-backs) have to constantly police the world, then I can foresee the need for a Military National Service.

Can't you see rich or poor, we all have "oli interests"?
Every time you fill up your car, every time you notice the rise in prices of our every day items, and all these other things,

Hardly matches the headline of that article ... gathering information and providing advice to the rebels is not quite the same as troops fighting alongside them. And as Libya is an oil producing nation, and as UK companies have interests there, it makes sense to provide assistance to the people who may wind up running the country.
The only mention of troops going in is made in the context of the Black Watch being on standby to help in the event of a ///humanitarian catastrophe/// - which means only when things look really bad.

Yes Cameron is proving a dead loss when it comes to foreign affairs. I thought that Blair was bad enough but Cameron is gung-ho. Even the US is playing this down but here we have British soldiers going into a war zone again. All he is doing in Libya is making the situation worse than before. It doesn't take much working out if you have 2 combatants with equal fighting abilities the situation will drag on much longer. Gaddafi has done nothing wrong, he has presided over 41 years and the West have done business with him. Who does he think could replace Gaddafi and have a decently run country...there is no opposition figure available and the country would run riot.
Why can't he just leave them to get on with it. If Gaddafi was finally defeated his supporters would forever blame Britain for taking sides against him. Someone should tell Cameron to shut up and solve the pressing problems at home!

It would now seem that we are indeed involved up to our necks, we now have eight SAS men and a junior diplomat taken by this rag tag army of savages.

Hang on Sandy these are Gaddafi's police, and they and their families should be immediately sent back, before they can claim political asylum here.
