Electricity key meter
6 Answers
I'm going away for a fortnight and I'm letting my meter run down to zero. I know there is a service charge with these meters but will it still charge me when I come back and put money on even though I haven't actually used any electric?

No.
You'll end up with a minus amount that will be deducted from your first recharge.

It depends......
Many companies removed the 'standing charge' .......but increased the price per unit. Your meter will still run as it always has even if your consumption is zero.....your emergency credit function may kick in but you'd be better advised to leave some money in the meter before you go.

No, obviously I don't have a freezer I do have a fridge but it will be empty obviously otherwise I wouldn't let the meter run out would I? I still have a service charge as I go away quite a bit and turn everything off (plugs out sockets) and when i return there my credit has gone down by the same amount each time. I just wondered if I left it at zero I might not be charged.
