we have 2 pcs at work

which are linked - well kind of anyway

anyway " pc1" cant download java

but " pc 2 " can

it says something about the "proxy" but we dont want to change any settings as this may stop the pc's talking to each other

any suggestions

Not nearly enough information...

Can PC1 connect to the Internet at all...?

yes

pc1 connects to the internet fine

pc1 use opera as its search enginge

and that feeds pc 2

if pc 1 is not on internet pc2 can

pc2 uses internet explorer

Opera is a web browser, not a search engine...

What happens if you type the Java download URL directly into PC1's web browser? Do you get to the Java website...?

i thank it even downloads it

but when you go to try and use it

its not there!!
