Am I right in thinking if a street which is unadopted was in existence prior to 1835 I can force the council to adopt it?

yes, am I right about section 37 highways act?
Assuming that I'm looking at the same thing (quite possibly not), I can't see any reference in section 37 to the year 1835

Section 37 does allow you to force the Council to adopt, but only if you've dedicated it as a public highway, the council see the need for it as a public highway and you've brought it up to standard yourself first
