I had a really bad labour with my first child. Forceps, bad tearing and loads of bleeding for 3 months after. It also affected my sex life as down below was never really the same. Also my child was actually born dead, due to cord being round here neck, but they thankfully brought her back.

My friend who is a trainee midwife has said that cos of all this I can have a c section and that they can't really refuse me. How true is this?

Just so scared that it all haPpens again!

you really have to discuss this with your obstetric consultant/ midwife, given your past experience i can understand your concerns.
I agree with Anne about your concerns but I had a terrible first labour but two and three were really (and I mean really) quick. On my last pregnancy (twins) I was made to have a c section and it was horrible. I felt awful and it took me ages to get over it. Good luck with whatever you decide (is decided for you). x
I don't think you can demand one, but you can make it clear to your midwife that you are really concerned about the birth becasue of your previous history and ask to see the consultant. The consultant will then take a view on whether the same circumstances are likely to arise and also your mental state and decide whether you should be referred for a section or not. I had a difficult and prolonged first labour with a "back to back" large baby and ended up with a section. I was then due my 2nd birth 13 months later and baby was lying in same way, was expected to be another large baby and I also had a fairly new c-section scar as well. They were still intending to have a trial of labour if I went before my due date, so it is not that automatic.
I also had a horrendous first labour, 38 hours, forceps, big baby!

baby no. two, 5½ hours, no pain relief, no forceps, medium size baby :o)

don't spend the rest of your pregnancy worrying about it, but discuss it with your gp/midwife.
Both of my children were by c section and I don't regret it at all
I forgot to mention, the 2nd was by demand
