On Thursday last week I commented on here about my Stepdaughter being Dyslexic. This lead me to reading a story of another girl that was Dyslexic and she describes her life as a Dyslexic. Her story was actually very upsetting to me, for two reasons.

1. this girl has gone through so much heartache in her life and still is suffering because of Dyslexia.

2. It was also like reading my own life story in so many respects.

I concluded from this that I am also certainly Dyslexic.

I don't suppose anybody noticed that I haven't been on AB since Thursday hardly at all,
I took a pre-assessmet test on the "British Dyslexia Association" website that suggests I am a moderate to severe Dyslexic.

I always thought that Dyslexia only affected reading and writing skills, How wrong I was, I have spent 3 days exploring Dyslexia in all its forms and I actually suffer from most of them, well I say suffer, some of the symptoms are actually very positive as well.

I have since spoken to an assessor who agrees I certainly need to be tested.

I see this as a very positive thing, this has made me see my whole life in a different perspective. :-)

" often has good people skills "................... " strong sense of justice ",,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well anyone on ab, knows that.......................your still cheeky though !!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Just to confirm - yes, Ratter is a really, really lovely man!!! We watched the full Program on Kara Tointon this morning and it was so interesting and emotional! She is such a lovely girl and it is incredible to see how much work she has had to put into learning her lines for Eastenders and the other parts she has taken on. A very courageous young lady. I think one of the saddest things is that not only the dyslexia sufferer often sees themselves as being "thick" or "stupid" , sometimes other people do to. But they are in fact neither of these things!!! Their skills just lie in other areas and their brains equate things differently to most. Some of the most entrepreneurial and extremely successful people are dyslexic , i.e. Richard Branson! I think that for Ratter, finding that there is a reason why he has struggled to do specific things throughout his life and now identifying the cause, is in fact a relief. Over the years, he has unconsciously developed strategies he uses to overcome or work through some of his problems. In many ways I think that this struggle has made him the man I so adore, someone I totally respect and love with all my heart. He is intelligent, honest, kind, considerate, so laid back but also strong in heart and mind! And he is patient ... well, he would have to be to be with me, lol! I love you Ratter ... yours sincerely, your secretary, lol! :o)

Thank you my lovely Carakeel AKA Janie :-)

(she just wants my body)
A friend's son has dyslexia (the words and numbers one), he is now doing well at University.

More power to your elbow Ratter x
hmmm, well yes, that too! lol
Ratter, from your list my son had at least 14 of them, many which have been overcome. The one that really sticks in my mind is the one that says something like , pays too much attention to detail, or something like that. The enhanced hearing is also extremely interesting. He would cover his ears at any noise when he was little and even now can pick up sounds that nobody else can.

As Carakeel says though, it has made him resourceful!

She loves yer Ratter!!!! That is so sweet x

LL, I drive people mad sometimes with my "attention to detail" reprinting things over and over, sometime because something wont line up 100%, I missed a full stop, something is not quite centred, grrrr. these are for our own records, so no else even sees them lol. I just got to do it!! but my desk, my shed oh dear, sometimes I got clear a space just to operate my mouse. I call it organised chaos!!
carakeel. drop in more often, miss your posts. anne
Will do anne, thanks Love! xxx
