Reached the grand old age of 60 last September. On several occasions since then she has been told her pension date. This has been changed 3 times. Today she received one weeks pension, and told she will be paid monthly from now on. So two things, She has worked all her life with the exception of taking 2 years out for childbirth ( back in those days you didn't get maternity leave ) We do not claim any benefit what so ever. To me it all seems unfair. The reason I think this is, we have saved and not been extravagent and now have to pay tax on her pension. Maybe we should have not saved and p!ssed it up the wall. Rant over.

Thanks all for your support. Back in the 80's when morgage interest rates were 15% we struggled but managed. Now saving interest rates are sh!te and morgate interest rates have never been better. Us oldies deserve better
2021 for me
so what's this about them changing it again? When did that happen?
Remember when we got tax relief on our mortgages (Miras) the good old days eh.
Phew, I nearly panicked then! Still Saturday 31st Oct 2020, only 9yrs 9mths 16 days to go
Or 120 pay days : (
Pussnboots says we are taxed again on money that was taxed in the first place.

Surely though this is incorrect, as pension payments are taken from earnings before PAYE is applied.
Paid tax all my working life. Now receive a pension. Taxed on that. Money that I have already paid tax on.

Hopkirk. You are paid your wages and taxed on them. You put your savings in the building society, at the end of the tax year your savings are taxed. When you retire your savings are taxed again.
The message is ...
Don't do well at school
Don't save your money
Blow your money on drink and holidays
Find a girl , have 6 kids and let the state keep you
It don't pay to be a success or work hard and do the right thing anymore in England
Scuse me sir, but I'm a girl.
