Desktop Icons are not working HELP please

I am confused None of my Desktop Icons are not working ,I have managed to go through G Chrome ,can you please tell me what I can do ,I would be very grateful.

There are a few things to try, but it might be a corrupt user profile, in which case the easy way is to simply create a new profile.

First though, you have just tried restarting the computer haven't you?

If you have and it's no different then download this file...

Extract it and double click on the file enclosed which will restore .lnk files (short cuts) back to their correct behaviour. And let us know if it helps.

Disable Anti-virus first though.

Many of Doug Knox's fixes are scripts .. vbs ones too ... and are prime to be wiped by Antivirus programs (as can be used as virii)

Hi I downloaded the programme that Chuckfiggens sent ,which then lead to the scan AVG finding that there were potential Dangerous threats these have been moved to the vaults ,could you please advise what I do with the files in the vaults or are they ok there .

Hi Squarebear, I was in the shower as I had been waiting for the nurse to come and they gave me 30 minutes, hense the reason I was not at the computer.,now my bandages have been changed I will be here for a while.
Is there any thing I need to do . .

I asked because a popular practical joke is for someone to take a picture of your desktop then use it as your wallpaper. The you are just clicking on a picture instead of your icons but this doesn't seem to be the case here.
