Just to follow on from our posts yesterday regarding your question about the japanese emperor appearing on TV – I spoke with my Japanese friend in Tokyo about an hour ago and the situation is pretty dire.
I asked her about the Emperor appearing on TV but she had hardly registered the fact.
Hardly surprising really, she has a second floor apartment and there is no running water, no heating (no gas), electricity for a few hours a day and no food in the shops except flour. There are constant aftershocks which make her building move.
The pharmacy she owns is in downtown Tokyo and can’t open because it relies on electricity. She can get water at the apartment building from a ground floor tap sporadically during the day and carry it upstairs in a variety of containers.
Her daughter is in bed with the flu. It’s very cold in the flat.
Now everyone is worried about the possibility of a radioactivity emergency affecting the city.
Her focus currently is on survival.
She was trying to sound positive but was clearly very upset and worried.

Sounds dire Zeuhl; methinks Tokyo is far enuf out to not be affected by the reactors. Where is Yoko Ono when needed.....she could at least interpret the reports.
I told her as much. There wasn't much else I could say to be honest.
Re: Yoko Ono. I expect she's in bed in one of her multi million dollar apartments in The Dakota Buildings she shared with the other 'Working Class Hero' LOL
.
why not put a special post up Zeuhl, where Abers can send their best wishes to those people in Japan, ask the ED?
then maybe print it off or email it your friend, this way the ED would deal with any negative comments
just a thought
I've posted a question on ed's blog. assuming that's how you make contact - it's my first time!
And apologies for referring to you as Boxtops all the time (this thread question for a start!). I don't think I'm suddenly developing dyslexia. My excuse is I'm trying to multi-task this with about three projects at work and we all know how rubbish men are at that!
