Desktop problem are still not solved

I still have the problem which is The desktop works ok for a short time and then I click on an Icon and nothing ,I have tried the programme that Chuck Figgins sent I also took on board some suggerstions from Squarebear but so far ,I am stuck .
Any ideas please Chuck mentioned about changing the profile ,HOW DO i DO THAT \\\\\\\ tHANK YOU SO MUCH

TBH the easiest solution is probably to just create a new user account and transfer all your stuff over to the new account and use that instead.
