If you were given the option to live another 100 yrs beyond your "departure" time would you accept and what inventions would like to see, and what events would like to witness?

No, would not accept for I would surely become a burden to both my family and society in general.

I'm with you on that one Bez
cure for all ills and the end to all wars.
It would put a great strain on the world and I dont think I would like to be a burden. If I do become a burden even at my normal departure, I would like to be able to make my own decision about whether to carry on or not ( if possible mentally).

An end to all wars would be fantastic but cant see it myself. An end to all premature deaths from these terrible things would also be fantastic.

It would be nice for everyone to have a job whatever it is . Cant think of any inventions
Look how difficult it is becoming already, when so many people are living healthily and long beyond retirement - we would either have to extend the retirement age to 120, or find some other way of funding living for older people!
Another 100 years of supporting West Brom!
Oh blimey :-S
This is an interesting question inasmuch as it depends on other factors - one - it would be all right if you could retain your health and strength throughout, including mental strength, two - if you could somehow be independent of other people and three if there was enough interesting going on in your own life to keep you occupied. There are other smaller factors but I think this covers the main considerations. Having said that I would certainly like to see an end to wars, a cure for cancer and many other ills including heart disease and diabetes. Inventions? I would like to see a substitute for petrol and diesel - I remember reading something ages ago about sea water (well there's plenty of that) but it may have been a fantasy. It would also be interesting to see space travel if it is indeed possible. All these things look like insurmountable mountains, but other equally as difficult have been conquered before so maybe it is possible. "Man is an animal with his feet in the gutter and his face raised to the sky." or something like that.
Sorry that quotation should have read"We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars" - Oscar Wilde.
Ron!! How could you!! You aren't looking at the stars then if you could think of Soylent Green.
I'd be checking out as soon as I could so I didn't have to read another one of Starbuckones' posts. Only kidding, I agree with you. Mostly about cure for ills, wars and the factors of where you would be at the time. I for one would like to see man land on Mars however I can't see it happening within the next forty years (at a guess) I have left on this rock.
If I'm that boring I won't bother. Consider this to be a minor flounce.
I agree with you whole heartily, hence I was only Kidding.
That would be another consideration then - think before you speak in case you hurt someone.

Think yourself lucky you're not a Toon fan after yesterday's appalling display...

Unless my family and friends can also have the option, I am not interested in living another 100 years.
I wouldn't want to outlive my loved ones by that long....you'd be a bit of a freak too wouldn't you?
