Sunday: the best day of the week. :-)

We're going to look out for a nice gastropub on the drive back to mine and I'll do the cooking tomorrow (Paella of Salmon, Jumbo Prawn and Red Snapper). I have a couple of bottles of a rather delectable Essenze Pinot Gris from Marlborough, NZ (not to be confused with that Pinot Grungy-o rubbish!!) which is available in Sainsbury's. With its concentrated fruit and buttery, honeyed undertones, it's my contender for Wine of the Week.

So what are you cooking / doing / drinking today?

You put sherry in cooking?

Aaaaaaagghhhh ... Nooooooo !!!!

I carry a few bottles of delicate Fino all the way back from Andalucia, risking it in my hold luggage cos we can't carry liquids in the cabin, chill it to perfect drinking temperature ... and then Hummingbird pours it in her stew.

Nooooooooo ... !!!!!!

Okay, okay ... so I finished all that lot, and this is just a bottle of Tio Pepe from Waitrose on the Western Road ... but the principle is the same.

It was lovely NoM...I was impressed with myself.

The trick is is to bring Ginge food shopping with me....he gets carried away. I had to stop him buying oysters and squid...
What's a login thief ????
Mmm, I might eschew my usual G&T and have a sherry this evening, with my....

Mozzarella & rocket wrapped in prosciutto, drizzled with an old and lush balsamic.

Followed by steak with peppercorn sauce, rosti and green veg.

Mr Cake has requested the main and the nibble is my choice.

No pud today as I've been working the last couple of days and haven't been very organised on the shopping front.

Calm down, Seagull, it was just Tesco's own label sherry. ;-)

You should try my recipe for chicken pie - you'll be astonished at what a contribution the sherry makes. :-)

Eccles, you are making me salivate. I hope we can find a pub that does rustic bread with olive oil and balsamic.
I haven't had a little wrestle for a few weeks, HB !
JJ, no but I have been seen in public with RB more than once!

NOM, you've just reminded me that I left a beautiful ciabatta at work yesterday, grrr....
Eccles ... did he wash or shave ??

I do love Le Manoir ... but, he's SUCH a slob !
I had creamy cajun chicken with linguinne. it was absolutely gorgeous. it was even better because it was made for us by my 17 year old son.
Possibly, de rigueur of vino is not required for my yogurt for breakfast nor my 1 slice of toast for tea
