How would you pronounce the Portuguese name 'Josue' ? I mention that it's prtuguese because the spanish and portuguese pronounce 'J's differently.

Plus i don't think there are any accents on any of the letters.

Most people were calling him by his characters name, but some said 'Ho-say' (not HOE-zay) which made me confused, then i saw Josue written down and thought that that must be him.

!?!?!?!
The portuguese don`t pronounce J as H. They pronounce it as J. I have a Brazilian friend who is Luis and it`s pronounced Luiz so I think Boxtops is right.

I thought the spanish was H and portuguese J.
Yes molly, which is why I said Joze u we - did you listen to the link from a Portuguese speaker. Josué is not the same as the Spanish José, different name (and that IS Ho Zay)
Portuguese J is similar to French J - sounds like the g in beige
For some reason i am now thinking of jose mourinho..
Portuguese Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese sound very different.

Brazilians sound much more clipped and sharp.

The Portuguese speak like they're p!ssed.

So a beer ... cerveza ... is pronounced how it looks by a Brazilian ... but a Portuguese would ask for a "cervaysha"

In other words ... ABerrant is right.

I think you'll be okay if you try to say "Shozay"
Commentators don't like to pronounce "Jose Mourinho" correctly.

"Hozay" sounds Spanish, and is just wrong.

"Shozay" is correct, but sounds pretentious, because it's not a sound that we use in English.

So ... they plump for "Jozay"
More like Chosey.
Ya, okay.
J is more of a zh sound I'd pronounce it Zhoh-swe (e falo portugues)!
Anyone up to doing Spanish lessons on here? I could do with broadening my knowledge. You all sound so professional.
