i have terrible tiredness most of the time due to the fact i have very disturbed nights i wake often and sleep lightly

i have read about a condition called sleep apnoea, but instead of having difficulty breathing i am doing it myself by holding my own breath, it is a thing i have done for many years and is a thing most of my father's family have done, including my own daughter
so is kind of hereditry

can anyone suggest a cure for this or has anyone ever known of this before

thanks
xx

jules68, Sleep apnoea is mainly caused by lack of oxygen. I just Googled that:-) There does'nt seem to be a cure but reading one 1 page it say's your gp can refer you to a specialist. Sorry I can't be of more help.
You say that you hold your own breath.

Is it humanely possible to hold anyone elses?

Hi jules68
Sleep Apnoea is probably more common than you think.
It occurs mostly in men who are heavy featured around the neck and jaws but that is not always the case.
Certain medications can also cause you to suffer from this condition. I would certainly get it checked out by your GP. It is caused by your muscles relaxing too much at the back of your throat and stopping you from breathing and it does cause sleepless nights. There is a device that you can wear at night if it is bad, but to be honest it looks like an air raid helmet.
Anyway, if you are on medication that may be the cause of it.
Hope you get the problem sorted out.
