I agree with naz.
A covering letter should be short, and say something like "I would like to be considered for *** job, and enclose my c.v.
I have some experience in ***, I am (you choose) friendly/oputgoing/good with people/computers etc, which I note is part of the requirements in the job description in your advertisement.
I hope you will consider my application and I look forward to hearing from you in due course"
Something along those lines - the covering letter shouldn't be a repeat of your c.v., just flag up the skills you have which are relevant to the particular job you are applying for.
Don't use abbreviations, make sure you spell everything correctly. make sure you give all your contact details at the top of the letter - address, tel no. email address if you think they might contact you by email.
and don't forget to sign it, original signature every time, no photocopies!
