I'm currently following Weight Watchers, but as I have all the stuff from years ago, I am doing the original points (not the new Pro Points or whatever they call it) this basically works by the points counting calories and the amount of saturated fat. I have lost 7lbs so far, but it's only been two weeks since I started.
calories (that keeps an eye on fats) and then just watch the salt as it can affect water retention a wee bit - it also impacts on blood pressure. I am of the belief that most food has enough salt naturally in it and I am very parsimonious in using it in cooking. The only weakness is salt on fries or jackets....and I will use a little on really hot days or in really hot climates where you can lose a lot of salt through perspiration.
Low fat and calorie counting is the way to go for weight loss. Salt is not good for your blood pressure so you should not use too much of it. You can use other things to flavour your food and you will soon get used to it. There are on-line slimming clubs if you do not want to go out. Weight watchers do it on-line and Tesco have a slimming club. You have to pay of course but you can do it yourself if you try.
