At 8.11 this morning kayakamina supplied THAW OUT for 20d "solicitor coming round may be less reserved". Can someone please give me an explanation

Isee teh TOUT for solicitor- but if the clue was as stated by 08012006 I don't see any reference to a flowering shrubs in the clue
The may in the clue is the may tree---other name for hawthorne

Haw ( as is hips and haws ) would never have occured to me as a synonym for
may(thorn); many thanks
