Pheasants head!

I have a pheasant that comes into my garden.  I don't think he is too old and is just getting his lovely long tail feathers.  However the whole of the top of his head is a silvery colour.  It nearly looks as if he is bald!  Is this normal?

PS - He's not the smartest bird I have ever encountered, but he is a real character and I could watch him for hours - dodgy head or not!!

Ford prefect could charm mammals, it sound like you can charm birds, get him into your kitchen, he'll taste wonderful.

Oh Tim, how could you !!!

He may be bald because he's got some kind of mite or flea infestation which I doubt you can do much about.  Still, it must be a privilege for you to have him visit and if you can put a little bit of grain out for him, he'll probably continue to come and visit you and give you a lot of pleasure.  Enjoy him while you can as some fox will probably come along before too long and have him.
