They both have a fairly high mercury content so don't eat it every day - I read somewhere once a week is plenty? I don't know about the white bread, except that most of the goodness has been processed out of the flower it is made of.
Yep, pipers right, with white bread practically all the goodness has been stripped out. Its the grain in flour which has all the goodness, and this is not present in white bread. Because it has been stripped, there is not enough fibre to control the release of the natural sugars that are present in all food. So the sugars are released really fast, which gives you an instant energy boost but will leave you groggy after 20 mins or so. Also, because it takes a shorter time to digest it wont fill you up like wholegrain bread will. Also Ive heard about a link between eating white bread and colon cancer, but Im not sure how much of that is true. Basically, when choosing breads its best to go for anything with the word grain in it, keep white bread as an occasional treat.
