Why would committed vegans breast feed their baby? Surely it is an animal product.

hmm thats true!
That is not the only animal product that humans produce. Think about it, and that could cause problem too!
Isn't it more to do with not eating/drinking stuff that comes from other animals but your own milk would be ok? Plus it's not processed and is completely natural... I'm thinking about it now!
Oh, no, JB ... you wouldn't do THAT to a vegetarian ...

... it would taste ...

... eeuuwww, no ... I'm not even going to think about it.
It is natural but it's not intended as a lifelong food - poor baby died of lack of vitamins and essential nutrients.
Obviously not nourishing enough poor little baby, a victim of it's mother stupidity.
^^its mother's stupidity,
How did I not see the damn link on this thread! Doh... What an entirely stupid couple. Vegan/vegatarians is generally a lifestyle choice, why can't children be left to make that choice for themselves.

Oh! Don't get me wrong. Obviously not feeding a baby of that any solids is plain wrong.
The story just got me thinking that maybe strict vegans would baulk at the idea of breastfeeding.
