I've been offline for a while, nice to see some familiar names still here! Anyways, just something to make you think...
I don't think I've ever seen an ad on tv and been influenced enough to buy a product. Have you, and was it worth it?

I bought those Reetone Trainers last week based on the ads and the fact they were on sale. They haven't arrived yet so I'l get back to you on that :)
Can you in all honesty say that, Dagman?
Never bought a Magnum, a Mars bar?
Yup, and chocolate. Mightnot be the same chocolate but yes it was worth it.
I'm sure they've bought them but not as a direct result of the TV ad.
Hi Dagman, I think I probably have but cannot name anything of noye.
squarebear, why would that particular item be chosen from the dozens of chocolate bars along side it if it wasn't for the advertising?
Perhaps a friend recommended it?
Perhaps they liked the look of the packaging?
Perhaps, they had tried one before and liked it?
Mars bar, as an example, is only popular because of its advertising.

Karenmac, Mrs Dagman has those and loves them. I buy products but no I don't really think watching a magnum or mars being advertised has pushed me to want one. I've had them yes but I don't take tv's word for it that they are good, I'd rather find out by word of mouth or if I feel like trying stuff.
I can't remember any recent adverts for Mars bar.

Another thing being, if adverts worked then everyones house would have the same stuff in them. But they don't so that's proved it hasn't it?
Adverts do work. That's why the majority of people prefer Heinz beans, Heinz tomato soup, Nescafe is still the single biggest seller of instant coffee, fish fingers means Birds Eye, even though there are dozens of other cheaper choices easily available.

Who would know about Direct Line if they didn't advertise on television? They are not on the comparison websites.
Question Author
hc4361, going back to the original question, what have you bought and was it worth it?
Slight problem here. Can usually remember the adverts but cannot remember what they are advertising.

You're right there Daisy, many a catchy tune or funny scene that you remember.
