Vacuum Travel Bags.Has anyone tried them?

As we're just taking hand luggage on our holiday I bought some vacuum travel bags.The idea is to pack clothes in the bag then roll up to expel the air.It says on the packet it can reduce volume by up to 75%.However in trying it I havn't been very successful !.Its probably just me but just wondered if anyone else has tried them?

I had some JML ones for helping me when I was moving house a lot while at Uni. They were fine the first use, but then after that they didn't really reduce in size much. It depends what you put in them, a double duvet went to the size of a pillow! But heavy clothes didn't seem to reduce much.
You need to make sure that they are sealed completely and really hold the vacuum nozzle on while keeping it flat!

I don't know about the travel ones specifically katystar but the ones for general storage are great. The ones with a valve for attaching a hoover to are even better.

I had some from Boots which worked really well. Admittedly, if I left clothes in them for a long time (a couple of months), then it was obvious that air was getting in as they weren't as flat as they had been, but for travelling they were great. Thinking about it I'm not sure where they are now, must be around somewhere....!

These things work much better on clothing that has lots of air trapped in the fibres - otherwise they don't make that much difference.
