Important question and can't go any further unless you answer this.

What email system does this "business nettwork" run?

Is it outsourced to another provider or is it local and/or is it Exchange or some other sort of mail system?
Question Author
it is exchange 2003 on a server running windows server 2003
OK, the standard android email program supports Exchange fine.

All you should need is the external name of the server, your username and password

However, if you are adding a mobile device to your companies exchange server then it should be your companies IT department that are doing it, not you.

yes, that is to set up a pop3, i want to sync my contacts and my calendar with outlook and the new android pda. i did it easy with windows mobile device center when i had a pda with windows mobile 6.5 on it. stuck with the android one, nothing works.
This is a public folders problem not only confined to android OS devices.

The way I synchronise public folders is through a Outlook add-in OLMixedFolders. OLMixedFolders uses a “Slavefolder” (with the standard Outlook folder for calendars, contacts, tasks etc. and special sub-folders) and a “Masterfolder” (to be synchronised with the “Slavefolder”). The synchronisation can be filtered criteria and can also be set to synchronise one or two directional (between Slave- and Masterfolder). Once you set it up it runs automatically in the background between your desktop (on the network) and your android PDA, see: http://www.somebytes....1-OLMixedFolders.html
