clicking noise on lap top

Hi, my lap top is ticking... I click mute and it stops although there is a small pulse type graphic on the volume marker... any advice appreciated... thanks

Is it constant? Cos I hear a click when the latest posts update as if I have actually clicked on it.

Open task manager and see if you have anything running that could possibly be making the noise. Failing that, it could need dusting inside will air in a can, the fans sometime get clogged and can make this noise.
