For the very first time yesterday I had my eyebrows waxed and tinted
(A gift for mothers day) they look great, nice shape, tidy, nice light brown colour.

BUT, Oh Gawd! I never realised I would be allergic to the wax.All around the brows its red swollen very itchy, I could tear 'em to pieces.

Has this happened to anyone else, & why wasn't I warned? This is the first and last time I can assure you. It will clear in a couple of days I expect but meantime I can't go out it looks soo awful..

No craft mine aren't. Today they've been driving me potty. I've put cortisone ceam on them & they've calmed a bit. Perhaps tomorrow. (whats a daft old oap doing having her eyebrows waxed?) my old mum would turn in her grave.

Sometims mines do that too....mabye tye wax was a bit too hot and its burned a bit!

Its not always like that! I get mine done all the time! Hope it clears for you x :(
Ps it may have been the dye...hope they done a patch test on you xx
Well I'm an OAP and have mine waxed regularly. Like tink said it may be the tint.
Have you tried E45 itch cream? I've been bitten by midges all over my legs and it's the only thing stopping me from scratching my skin off!
Aloe vera too, x
Hello tinks! Aloe Vera is fabulous but you need the gel. I've tried the liquid and it only lasts for a few minutes. Went through a bottle in hours!

I don't think it was the dye tink, the actual eyrbrows are ok no probs. They did say it was a non allergic vegatable dye. No, its all around the brows, theyr'e all hot too. I keep dabbing them with medicated wet-wipes which I keep in the fridge.
(My H hasn't stopped laughing Grrrrrr!)

Perhaps you're right tink, it could have slightly burnt them.
going to bed soon so they'll get a rest & may have calmed down by morning.

Thanks all for your concern.

night - night. - jem
Night night! Hope it's all better in the morning. Let us know if it isn't.
Night night xx
I am over 70 and I have acrylic nails had them for years &years and also once a month I have my eyebrows & upper lip waxed, its quick and over in seconds, dont like threading though takes too long and hurts. Always have the waxing done 24 hours before I am going somewhere special as it does leave blotches which i put cream on and leave overnight.
I have always had these things done and dont see why I should stop now and I certainly cant be bothered to do it myself and about once every three months I have a facial, Grannies these days dont always looks like old women.
I usually do mine a couple of days before I'm doing something which gives it time to calm down.

Otherwise Jem, try threading. Quick and no mess afterwards. Costs £5 down my way.
Never give up trying to look nice jem, even if you are an OAP. Personally I use moisturising cream on my face every morning and body cream and I think my skin is much better for it. I look at other women of my age and my skin is definitely not as wrinkled as theirs. Moral - keep going as long as you can.

Good morning all, just popping on here before I go out to the garden centre to get some plants. (I digress) Yes I'm going out soo as you may think things are a whole heap better this morning. Swelling has gone down, itching gone & there's just a hint of pink.
What is threading?

Dee, I'm with you, just because one is in ones autumn years it doesn't mean you have to loose pride in yourself, good for you. Its all new to me and yes I have my nails done & hair too, & 2 - 3 times a year have an Indian head massage, very relaxing.
