Erase one person from history

If you could erase one person from history who would it be?

Well everybody good and bad has contributed in some way. We are what we are today because of everything that has gone before.

But if I had to choose someone from recent history I would have to say Stalin.

He was far more evil than Hitler, probably mad, directly caused the death of millions of people in and around Russia (his own countrymen and women).

He sent thousands to prison for no reason, caused years of misery in the world with the 'cold war' and ruled by fear.     

Hitler comes a close second.

As mentioned, everyone contributes to history, in a major or minor way.

So, hypothetically, I'd get rid of Margaret Thatcher - no Thatch, no 'I'm alright Jack...' Tories to privatise everything in sight!

Margaret Thatcher,

she destroyed the NHS, the rail system in this country is now at third world levels the bus services are a joke, she lined the pockets of her chums by selling off public owned gas, electricity and water services at one third of their true value for which we get to pay for for the rest of eternity, and drove wages down to 1930's levels.

Hitler and Stalin together didn't do as much damage to the average British person as this b***h.

Years ago I saw a film about this sort of subject. It was set in the future and people travelled back in time to try and fix things. Trouble was the more they changed the more they messed up - they stopped Kennedy being assassinated, and then the Cuban missile crisis escalated. So they went back and tried again and this time let Kennedy live and while he was recovering the deputy annihilated vietnam (or was it korea?)  and caused a different world crisis.  (Sorry can't remember who was in the film or what it was called).

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is despite however many evil people there have been in the past, I think that if you had changed the path of history other things might not have happened.

So... I don't think I'd erase anyone from history - It might be worth going back in time to try and re-educate some people, but even that might have disastrous consequences.

Ignoring the obvoius choices of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mugabe etc..., I'd get rid of Blair's mate Mandy for the simple reason that he is an odious pillock.

There was a blackadder "special" that used this theme. It was made for the Millenium Dome but has been shown on TV.

Blackadder and Baldrick go back in history and meet Shakespeare, Napolean etc.

Cannot remember the details but they convince Shakespeare to stop writing, and Napolean wins Waterloo etc. 

When they return to modern times no one has heard of Shakespeare, and they are all talking French and using French Francs instead of pounds etc.

I would have to agree with Vehelpfulguy. Stalin annhilated most of my mothers family, took their farm and she defected. Her life story is amazing of how she even survived the terrifying horrors of war. People in this country have got it really easy I can tell you!

Apart from the obvious answers of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc., I vote for Shakespeare.  It would save hundreds of generations of innocent schoolchildren from being inflicted with studying his ghastly plays.
