Pop can tapping stops fizzing?

How does tapping the top of a fizzy pop can with your finger before pulling the ringpull stop it all fizzing out even when the can has been shaken beforehand?

Not sure but this is my guess. Tapping the can causes all of the carbon dioxide bubbles to rise to the top. When the can is opened the carbon dioxide escapes from above the liquid. Otherwise, as the bubbles rush to the surface when the can is opened the liquid comes too.

One of those annoying things people do that serves no purpose like tapping a cigarette on the box before you smoke it or one my friend did was shake a bottle of lemonade etc when it was open to keep it fizzy, when in reality all this did was release the gas early and in fact reduce the fizzyness in the long run.
