Can anyone recommend a decent lawn mower?
11 Answers
We've only got a smallish lawn out the front and an even smaller one at the back. We need to buy a lawn mower but there are so many to chose from that it's difficult. I want something that's going to hold the grass (not a flymo thing that spits it out.) It also needs to be relatively light to push (it'll be me doing it).
So can anyone recommend one that fits my requirements? Price not an issue but don't see the point in spending too much.
Thank you

This is a great little machine, has grass collection, it's lightweight and folds for storage. It's also about half price.
I've got one and it does the job, I'd recommend it.

Well, for the past 30 years I have used 2 black and decker electric 1400w 38cm mowers. Getting reader to buy my third
Looking at B&D 1400w 38cm on Amazon, but it is a bit pricy at £297
They also have a B&D 1200w (a bit less power) 34cm (bit less cutting width) for £107
The nice thing about a hoight wattage is that it picks up the grass cutting much better, even if the grass is wet.
I might give Homebase a look, but I find the DIY stores seem to have the same product, but when you check all the specifications, you can see why the price is cheaper.
Good luck with you search
Old Salt................seem to be mostly adrift on dry land

depends really on finish you want cylinder will give better cut than rotary. If you ok with 240 Volt machine (you can get cordless), and don't want a "bowling green", I would go with a wheeled rotary mower as it will deal with longer grass - personal choice would be one from Bosch range model / size depends on area / time availalabe

If you go 240 Volts would also get an RCD device aswell - just to be safe

Sorry to throw another spanner in the works here but over the years I've gone through two Flymo strimmers and two mowers and they don't stand the test of time. I wouldn't buy another Flymo! The model I'm using now is (I think) B&Qs own brand which was originally guaranteed two years and I've used it for at least five -Has quite a powerful motor producing a low sound (unlike your screaming Flymos) Would definitely buy another one!
