Does anyone have any idea about what is happening with the Icelandic volcano which caused the massive ash cloud disruption about this time last year. There was lots of talk of continuing problems but I have heard nothing for quite some time,

Nothing is happening. It was a year ago!
It must be dormant.
says here that the other one might erupt this year, but there is no major publicity about it http://www.businessin...celand-volcano-2011-2
I think I am correct in saying that geologists finally declared the eruption over a few months ago after holding off for quite a long time when little or nothing was happening. Since then there have been hundreds of earthquakes in broadly two areas of Iceland and a new eruption could easily start with very little notice, such is the extent and nature of volcanic activity there. The concensus seems to be that this is an active period about now (the past year or two and going into the next few).
There is another volcano that was threatening to erupt a couple of months ago. Even if it does it won`t necessarily cause the problems that we had last time. We had unusually stable winds from the north west which caused the ash to blow our way. Next time the winds could give a completely different result.

Many thanks for all the answers. My daughter was stranded in Dubai for 4 weeks, instead of 2, this time last year, whilst on holiday - she was wondering if the same thing would happen again, and she could have extended holidays !!!!
