Rosie (my lab puppy) seems to be settling into her new home well, she is getting livelier by the day! She loves playing and especially loves chasing empty bottles about as she can't get hold of them! She's still biting but it seems to be a gentler biting now and if you let out a yelp she'll let go unless she's really excited!
She got her first lot of jabs at the vets on Saturday and was very good. She is healthy and the vet had no problems with her. She didn't like it when we came out though to find 2 big great danes in the waiting rooms, she got the shakes lol! I think I will take her to a puppy training class so she can socialise with other pups. Once she's had her 2nd lot of jabs I'll let her play with the puppy next door too.
She knows when she is about to get her din dins and sits waiting patiently for it with her tail wagging. We've had a few accidents where she's stuck her paw in the dish and sent the food flying! She's a right wee helper, my other half was digging the garden the other day and she went along behind him digging and everytime he moved up a bit so did she, it was very funny and sweet to watch! Toilet training is going well, a few accidents but thats to be expected!
She doesn't know (obviously) but has 2 new toys coming in the post, a kong to fill with bits for her to get out and a teething ring that can be put into the freezer...wait until she gets her paws on those!

Lovely to her that Roseie is doing so well.They are very fast learners aren't they? It'll be great for her to go to puppy classes. My Lottie loved hers and they really helped me with training too. Mind you she was a bit of a goody two shoes so I was very lucky. One thing I taught Lottie which has been brilliant is 'wait' for her food. It just means they learn manners at a young age. I often have other dogs to stay and they've all been taught the same. Just stops loads of barging about and you won't get the bowl knocked out of your hand.Lottie will wait until I tell her she can 'get' her food. You have so much fun ahead.Enjoy her while she is little,it's amazing how fast they become adults! Keep posting..
She is a very fast learner, I'm very impressed with her! She knows the word sit very well already and even if she is playing and I say sit, she'll do it. I think that will be very good for when she is overexcited or around a child.
How do you teach a dog to wait? I've taught her how to sit, lie down and roll over (sort of!) by having a treat in my hand and having her nose follow it so he ends up in the right place but I can't work out how to do wait.

With Lottie I used to make her sit and said wait.If she moved I put her into sit again and put my hand up and said wait.Almost like a stop sign.She soon got the hang of it. I just need the hand signal now. 'Get it' was just lots of encouragement and pointing at her food. I'm sure Rosie wil get it very quickly.Good luck.
They're great when they ar puppies aren't they.When Max was a puppy he was always under my feet helping me out, I hope you keep your camera handy as you'l miss some great memories.This is Max at about 12 weeks (he's nine now) old helping us decorate he was really good at stripping the wall paper

To teach wait, have a piece of food in your closed fist and offer it to her. She will nuzzle and poke your hand, do not give her the food. Eventually she will give up the attempt to get the food and withdraw briefly. at that pint, praise and give the food. Once you can offer her your closed hand and she makes no attempt to nuzzle, add the command wait and very very gradually increase the wait time...then go to sit/wait. Then generalise it to other situations.

They are wolf, I was in the kitchen washing dishes while watching her out in the garden and she was sat looking up to the sky moving her head about. I went out to see what she was up to, she was watching the birds! So funny to watch them learn about new things that we see every day and pay no attention to, it makes you open your eyes and see the world again!
They are paddywak, and I say that even with a ripped pair of pyjama bottoms and tooth scrape down my leg lol! I'm a photographer so always have my camera ready! I love your photo of Max, so cuddly and cute!! We nearly got a german shepherd but decided on a lab in the end.

She seems happy alba, she thought it was hilarious to drag her feeding mat with a bowl full of water and a bowl full of food across the floor at 7.30am yesterday! :-)
