MM Links Solutions April 2011 [Week 2]
10 Answers
“The Count” (aka middlestump) sets yet other new records ~ for the fewest number of entrants to get onto the scoreboard in a single round of MM Links and for the longest run of entrants opening the game with a zero score! Dealing with Cricket Umpiring, he went with the following link words:
BEAN Counter
POCKET Watch
EYEBROW Pencil
Paper BACK
I must confess that I needed to look up “Bean Counter”: An accountant – especially one considered as parsimonious!
Although I try my best to score games accurately, more often than not I do make errors of omission. Last week I robbed seekeerz of One Point, which I now restore with apologies. This had nothing to do with the fact that I had a score of ZERO on the KM Links Game!

No doubt some regulars were enjoying the amazing weather ~ as I should be at this moment in time! Be that as it may, the allocation of points was even leaner ~ with the absolute minimum of EIGHT points being awarded. Even more remarkable was the fact that it took 22 entrants to go away empty handed before Aquagilty struck a blow for MM Linkland. Equally surprising was his chosen link with EYEBROW PENCIL (for TWO POINTS). Is there something about Aquagility that no one has told me?
Another nine entrants took us to ladyalex, who offered the improbable BEAN COUNTER for a second set of TWO POINTS. With only five players left to register and two links to find, I was truly delighted to find my very good friend Mrs Ont-ice was truly on the ball. She had perfect timing (POCKET WATCH) to “book” the winning entry (PAPER BACK) for FOUR glorious POINTS. Without a doubt she stands as the uncontested HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***

The League Table after this second week is:
FOUR POINTS: Aquagility, Christiana, deecee131, Dinkypuzzled & Mrs Ont-ice
THREE POINTS: Elspeth & evsajo
TWO POINTS: beejay1124, centrino, cliffyg, freebi, grannydi, kawakiri, ladyalex, LaneyB, owllady, patchett, rockfordill, SHAZZA & Strix
ONE POINT: boxtops, cupid04, Eiggam, fordward, jobjockey, Jools, joto, mirandasmum, Mr Ont-ice, seekeerz & tearinghair
With a second (more sombre) week gone, the month of April has stabilised somewhat. Having had the famine and the feast, what will Week[3] have in store is anybody’s guess. To find out, you need to be there!
For the present, this is crofter signing off.
Until we meet up again: HAPPY LINKING!
