Best location/hotel in Egypt
Hi, my Girlfriend and I are wanting to go to Egypt this summer, and were wondering which is the best city to stay in. We want to be able to do all the cliche Egypt type things (visit the pyramids etc) and want to be with a good distance of all the best sights (if that's possible). We've been looking at several reviews of different hotels, and most are very mixed. Has anyone on here got any good recommendations for me, it would be very helpful. (nice and reasonably priced) Cheers.

Luxor, much further up the river, is the centre for visiting the Valley of the Kings and the temple at Abu Simbel, which was resited after the artificial Lake Nasser was created, threatening to drown it. Plus there are beach resorts at places like Sharm el Shaikh. You will need to move around to do all these things, however.
If I had to do only one of those things it woud be the pyramids, they're just something everyone should see in their lives.

We stayed in a realy stunning 5* Marriott resort in Taba. The resort didn't look like your usual chain hotel. It was made to look very authentic, and it was located right by the red sea. You could literally walk out of your room, down to the beach, and be snorkelling among coral reefs in 5 minutes! It was all inclusive, had great facilities and entertainment and was only 350 each including flights, in Oct, and was about 35 degrees. We went on a coach trip to Cairo, and saw the Cairo Museum, The Pyramids and The Sphynx. I wouldn't recommend actually staying near Cairo, as it's not very nice, so a day trip is far better, as long as you don't mind the 5 hour coach trip. I'm glad we did it that way, as we got to stay in a luxurious resort AND see the pyramids.
