Hope you can help me.

Since moving in last year, a neighbour built an extension and made some other changes and now won't finish off/tidy his house. The roof of the extension is strewn with old tiles and the gardens back and front now look like a building site.

He is lazy and spends his spare time down the pub. Requests for him to finish the work have fallen on deaf ears.

Can I do anything legally about this??

No! It really is as simple as it sounds. Just a slob of a neighbour that won't get things finished. Other people in the street are fed up as well.

Nothing at all if it is just an eyesore and not a danger to you.

Learn to look in the other direction. It really is none of your business.

And really, so what if he spends his time in the pub?

As has been said -- this is nothing to do with you.You cannot make him do anything ,if he chooses not to do so. Only if there were to danger to others could some pressure be brought to bear.So get on with your life and forget it.

he could paint it blue with white spots if he wanted too... nothing you can do!
We were building for 3 years.. and had loads of ruffled around the boa neighbours
Now we have a lovely house and a terribly messy front garden
Perhaps he has run out of money and is saving up!

Contrary to the other answers, if land is causing significant detriment to the amenity of the local area, the Council can serve a notice under section 215 of the Town and Country Planning Act requiring that they return the site to a satisfactory appearance. However this is only used in extreme cases so your neighbour may not qualify for one.
