can i use one usb cable for different devices?  my mp3 oplayer and my digital camera both came with a cable but its a lot of hassle to get up and walk round to the back of the computer and unplug one and put the other back in.  can i keep one cable attached and use if for both?

Yes, as long as the plugs on the end is the same, all USB cables are the same.

cool, ta rossy.  i thought as much, but i didnt wanna try it in case i blew up something.

If you are using a desktop PC they often have USB connections at the front as well.

They are not always obvious, and may be hidden under a small flap or door. Get down on your hands and knees and have a good look at the front and side of your case to see if there is a USB socket there.

You can also get USB splitters. This converts 1 USB cable into 2, 3 or 4 connections. So you can plug the single USB connector in the back of your PC and have the USB device at the front with room for 3 or 4 cables.    

You can get them at PC Word, Maplins, probably even W H Smiths.
